FALL SUNDAY SCHOOL EMPHASIS
Greetings!
Below are the dates and the focus of each date of the emphasis. For more information and ideas of how to conduct the fall emphasis in your local church you can go to http://www.nazarene.org/ministries/ssm/spiritualgrowth/fall2009/display.aspx
Fall 2009 Sunday School Emphasis: GO – Make the Connection with Others
The Great Commission reminds us that we are to “Go and make Disciples of all nations, baptizing them…and teach (them) to obey…” (Matthew 28:19). Over the next two years we will be emphasizing the importance of that great commission from Jesus.
People are waiting on us to invite them to church…to our local Sunday School class. Tom Rainer, in his book The Unchurched Next Door, discovered that 97% of the unchurched said that they were likely or somewhat likely to attend church if someone invited them to come! The question is, “Who will invite them?” The answer should be, “Me.”
You and I are the ones our neighbors, friends, relatives, work associates – young and old alike – are waiting on to invite them to Sunday School. During this spring emphasis, we are encouraging you to motivate and prayerfully consider who God will place on your heart to invite to Sunday School. God will use our witness and invitation to speak to people and draw them to Himself.

Catching up…
There have been a few changes for the Southwestern Ohio District over the past several months; looks like we may have a bit of catching up to do regarding news and information. First, we are very excited to share with you the new website design and online newsletter. We collectively thank Kelly Mott for all her work and effort she has put into creating such an incredible tool for communicating.
Let’s backtrack for a moment in time…
Camp Meeting was held June 15-21, 2009, with Evangelists Michael Benson and Timothy Hancock; Song Evangelist, Brian Allen; Bible Study, Mark Atherton. Family service was held on Friday evening. It is not too early to mark you calendars now for Camp Meeting 2010, June 14-20, with Norman Moore, Troy Martin, and song evangelist yet to be determined.
General Assembly June 25 marked the One Hearts Many Hands (NYI) ministry in Orlando, continuing on with Missions and then General Assembly where celebrations, worshipping, as well as conducting business took place at the 27th General Assembly in Orlando Florida. Below you will find the updated and complete list of the General Superintendents for the Church of the Nazarene.

The Assembly delegates met with their assigned committees Saturday, June 27. Resolutions varied and were discussed and voted upon, and then the regional delegates went into caucus for elections of representatives to various committee and boards; a full day of business.
A service was held each evening with our general superintendents speaking, we worshipped in song and lifted up the glorious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What an incredible morning it was on Sunday, June 28, more than 22, 000 Nazarenes gathered together for worship, communion was served and the retiring general superintendents were honored for their years of service. If you have not had the opportunity to view or listen to the reports and or services from General Assembly you can visit nazarene.org website and catch up on what you missed.

Clergy Appreciation

Clergy Appreciation Month
October is the nationally recognized month for clergy appreciation. Last year most of our churches honored their pastor and staff and their families in tangible ways. We encourage each church to honor their ministerial staff with a fresh touch from the Lord through demonstrations of thanks and appreciation this year.
